Coventry City Complete Permanent Signing of Nigeria Midfielder Frank Onyeka
Coventry City have confirmed the permanent signing of Nigeria international Frank Onyeka following his impressive loan spell with the club.
The midfielder initially joined the Sky Blues on loan from Brentford in January, but Coventry have now activated the option in his contract after the opening of the summer transfer window.
Onyeka played an important role in Frank Lampard’s side’s successful Championship campaign, helping the club secure the Sky Bet Championship title and earn promotion to the Premier League.
The 28-year-old made 14 league appearances during his loan spell and scored once as he provided energy, defensive strength and experience in midfield.
His permanent move will officially take effect on Wednesday, July 1.
Opinion: Onyeka’s move represents a reward for his consistency and hard work. His physical style, work rate and experience could prove valuable as Coventry prepare for the challenge of Premier League football. For the Super Eagles midfielder, returning to England’s top flight offers another opportunity to prove he belongs among the best.
