NLO Queries Referee, Match Commissioner Over Alleged Match Report Leak
The Nationwide League One (NLO) has issued queries to centre referee Adanlawo Ayomide and match commissioner Mohammed Lateef over an alleged breach of confidentiality following the one-leg playoff clash between Yewa Football Academy and FC Ebedei in Akure.
The league body said the two officials could face disciplinary action for allegedly disclosing the official match report without authorization.
The NLO secretariat reportedly received a formal complaint from Yewa Football Academy’s Mr Mojeed Ibrahim, who claimed he had access to the confidential document.
According to the NLO regulations, sharing match reports with club officials without approval is considered a violation of the league’s Code of Conduct and established sports ethics.
Both officials have been asked to provide detailed written explanations within 24 hours, as the league insists it will maintain a strict stance on issues that could affect match credibility and integrity.
The NLO warned that failure to provide satisfactory responses could lead to immediate and indefinite suspension from all league activities.
Opinion: Transparency is important in football, but protecting official documents and match procedures is equally crucial. For lower leagues like the NLO, maintaining trust in officiating is vital because every decision can have a major impact on clubs, players and promotion ambitions. How this case is handled will send a message about the league’s commitment to fairness and accountability.
