Lamine Yamal Names Messi, Vinicius And Morocco Star Among World Cup Standouts
Spain wonderkid Lamine Yamal has revealed the three players who have caught his attention most at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
The Barcelona winger, speaking ahead of Spain’s Round of 32 clash against Austria, highlighted Argentina captain Lionel Messi, Brazil forward Vinicius Jr and Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari as the players who have impressed him with their performances.
Messi has continued to make history at the tournament, leading Argentina’s attack with six goals so far, while Vinicius Jr has also been influential for Brazil, scoring four times. Saibari has emerged as one of Morocco’s surprise performers, contributing three goals in the competition.
When asked by COPE to mention the players who have stood out for him, Yamal said:
“Vinicius is really impressing me. Obviously Messi. Saibari plays football really well.”
The 18-year-old has also made his own impact at the World Cup, scoring once for Spain as they prepare for their knockout-stage battle against Austria.
Yamal’s choices reflect the changing face of world football — a mixture of legendary brilliance from Messi, the explosive quality of Vinicius, and the rise of new talents like Saibari. For a young star already carrying huge expectations himself, his appreciation of different styles and generations shows the level of talent currently on display at the tournament.
