Kano Pillars Legend Rabiu Ali Promises Strong Comeback Ahead of New NPFL Season
Kano Pillars midfielder Rabiu Ali has assured supporters that the club is determined to deliver a better performance in the upcoming 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The veteran midfielder made the pledge after a difficult previous campaign that saw the Sai Masu Gida narrowly escape relegation on the final day of the season.
Ali, who remains one of the most influential figures at the club, expressed his deep connection with Kano Pillars and promised that the team will approach the new season with greater commitment.
“Kano State is our state and our pride, Kano Pillars is our team and our pride. Just as blood flows through our bodies, so does love for Kano Pillars flow through us,” he wrote.
He added that the players will “double their efforts” to bring happiness to the people of Kano State and restore the club’s pride.
Kano Pillars are currently undergoing changes following the appointment of a new management team, with expectations that the transition will help build a stronger squad ahead of the new campaign.
The 2026/27 NPFL season is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 28.
Opinion:
Kano Pillars’ struggle last season was a warning sign for one of Nigeria’s biggest football brands. A club with such a passionate fan base cannot afford to consistently fight relegation battles.
Rabiu Ali’s words reflect the importance of leadership and identity within the team, but the real test will come on the pitch. Improved planning, recruitment, and stability behind the scenes will be key if Kano Pillars want to return to competing among the top teams in the NPFL.
