Bose Aregbesola Clears the Air on Segun Ogungbe Relationship Rumours

Bose Aregbesola Clears the Air on Segun Ogungbe Relationship Rumours

Veteran Nollywood actress Bose Aregbesola has addressed the long-running speculation linking her romantically with colleague Segun Ogungbe, revealing that many people still mistakenly believe they are married.

Speaking in an interview with Biola Bayo, the actress said the misconception has followed her for years because of the numerous films in which she and Ogungbe portrayed husband and wife.

According to Bose, the confusion has become so widespread that people often ask about Ogungbe whenever they meet her at social gatherings.

“To this day, people still think I am the wife of Segun Ogungbe. They will say, ‘Segun’s wife.’ I am tired of having to explain myself. When I go to parties, they still ask about him. They will say, ‘How about your husband?’ We did the work back-to-back and played the lead. We played the role of a couple in all.”

Despite the persistent rumours, Aregbesola expressed gratitude to Ogungbe, saying their professional partnership played a significant role in her career growth.

“That really helped me. God blessed me through him, and I appreciate it.”

The actress also spoke fondly about her late husband, describing him as a supportive and trusting partner who stood firmly behind her acting career.

She recounted an incident where an anonymous caller tried to create problems in their marriage by falsely claiming she was at a hotel.

“People will say your husband trusts you. One day, someone called him from a hidden number, saying I was in a hotel.”

According to Bose, her husband's confidence in her never wavered, and he often drove her to movie locations, even when filming required late-night travel.

She revealed that, despite the challenges they faced as a couple, they remained together until his passing.

“We had no problems in our marriage until he passed away. The sickness lasted for just seven days.”

Reflecting on the state of the movie industry, the actress noted that Nollywood has become increasingly competitive and urged actors to appreciate every opportunity they receive.

“God should help us in our profession. The industry is saturated. So, appreciate it if you're seen.”

Opinion

Bose Aregbesola's experience illustrates how convincing on-screen performances can blur the line between fiction and reality in the minds of audiences. While portraying married couples repeatedly may strengthen an actor's popularity, it can also fuel misconceptions that persist for years.

Her tribute to her late husband also underscores the importance of trust in relationships, particularly in professions that attract public attention and constant scrutiny. By sharing her story, Bose not only clears up longstanding rumours but also reminds fans that an actor's on-screen life should not be confused with their personal reality.
