Michael Carrick Confident Liverpool Can Bounce Back Despite Four-Match Losing Streak

Former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has expressed optimism over Liverpool’s chances of recovering from their recent slump and mounting a serious title challenge this season.

The Reds have endured a difficult spell, suffering their fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions, including a 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Anfield — a ground where the Red Devils had not won for nearly a decade. This run has dropped Liverpool to fourth place, three points behind leaders Arsenal and just two points above ninth-placed Manchester United after eight games.

Speaking on Premier Productions, Carrick stressed that the timing of Liverpool’s dip is not catastrophic. “I think they’re playing well enough,” he said. “The finishing line is a long, long way away yet. If this was February or March and they were coming towards the end, there’s a fragility there. There’s more than enough time to put a run together before the end of the season. I think they’ll get through it — plenty of football to go and enough good signs for Liverpool to march on.”

Liverpool will be aiming to end their losing streak when they travel to Brentford this weekend, with former Newcastle United star Alan Shearer backing the Reds to claim the win.

💭 Opinion: Liverpool’s Title Challenge Is Far From Over

While the losing streak may appear alarming, Carrick’s perspective is spot on. Early-season dips are common, even for the strongest squads, and Liverpool’s quality, experience, and depth remain unquestionable. Players like Mohamed Salah, Darwin Núñez, and Fabinho can still lead the team to regain momentum.

Arne Slot’s side must address defensive lapses and find consistency in front of goal, but there’s no need to panic. Football is a marathon, not a sprint, and the Reds still have ample time to turn things around.

If they approach Brentford with focus and discipline, Liverpool could kickstart a winning run that reminds everyone why they remain one of the Premier League’s elite contenders.

The season is long, the squad is strong, and the Anfield spirit remains intact — Liverpool’s title hopes are very much alive. 🔴
