Oliver Glasner Reportedly Open to Manchester United Job Mid-Season – Ben Jacobs
Football transfer expert Ben Jacobs has revealed that Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner would be willing to take over at Manchester United if the opportunity arose in the middle of the season.
Speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel, Jacobs explained that despite Palace’s impressive form under Glasner, the Austrian would not hesitate to swap Selhurst Park for Old Trafford.
“With Glasner, I do genuinely think that he would leave Crystal Palace if he was offered the role mid-season, even though they’re on a fantastic run,” Jacobs said.
“Things are moving in the right direction there, but he’s had to operate off a shoestring budget. And I’m still told that Glasner would be prepared to join Manchester United if a vacancy mid-season emerges.”
The news comes as current United boss Rúben Amorim faces mounting pressure, having won just 19 of his 49 matches since his appointment in November 2024.
Opinion: A Tempting But Risky Move
If true, Glasner’s openness says a lot about Manchester United’s enduring pull. Even with all the turbulence at Old Trafford, the job remains one of football’s most coveted. Glasner has been thriving at Palace, earning praise for his tactical structure and ability to maximize limited resources. But swapping stability for the United hot seat could be a high-risk gamble.
For United, the idea of Glasner is intriguing. He’s a modern tactician, disciplined, and has shown he can elevate players. However, Palace fans would understandably feel betrayed if he were to walk away mid-season.
As for Amorim, the pressure is undeniable. Winning less than half of his games at a club like United rarely buys time. Glasner may not be the only name linked, but this revelation suggests there’s already a managerial merry-go-round in motion.
In the end, the big question is: should Glasner leave a project where he’s thriving for one where patience is thin and expectations sky-high?
