Crystal Palace’s Glasner Open to Manchester United Job — But Only on His Own Terms

Crystal Palace’s Glasner Open to Manchester United Job — But Only on His Own Terms

Football transfer expert Ben Jacobs has revealed that Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is open to taking over the Manchester United job — but only if the opportunity comes mid-season.

According to Jacobs, speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel, Glasner would “gladly leave” Selhurst Park if United made an offer, despite the Eagles’ impressive run of form under his leadership.

“With Glasner, I do genuinely think that he would leave Crystal Palace if he was offered the role mid-season, even though they’re on a fantastic run,” Jacobs said.
“Things are moving in the right direction there, but he’s had to operate off a shoestring budget. And I’m still told that Glasner would be prepared to join Manchester United if a vacancy mid-season emerges.”

The revelation comes amid growing pressure on Ruben Amorim, whose spell at Old Trafford has yet to inspire the confidence United fans hoped for. Since joining the club in November 2024, the Portuguese manager has won just 19 of his 49 matches, leaving many to question whether he’s the right man to lead the Red Devils back to glory.

Opinion: Glasner Could Be the Fresh Air United Desperately Needs

If there’s one thing Manchester United have lacked in recent years, it’s stability and tactical clarity — two qualities that define Oliver Glasner’s coaching style.

The Austrian tactician has quietly built a reputation for discipline, organization, and player development. What he achieved at Eintracht Frankfurt — leading them to Europa League glory — and now at Crystal Palace, where he’s turned a modest squad into a resilient, efficient side, speaks volumes about his managerial intelligence.

At Old Trafford, Amorim’s project looks stuck in neutral. The football has been inconsistent, the results unconvincing, and the fans restless. Glasner, on the other hand, brings structure over style, and results over reputation — something United desperately needs.

However, it’s interesting that Glasner would only take the job mid-season. Perhaps it’s a sign of his confidence — a belief that he can walk into chaos and make order out of it. Or maybe it’s his way of seizing the narrative, stepping in when things are bad enough that change is inevitable.

Either way, if Manchester United’s hierarchy truly want a rebuild rooted in discipline and vision rather than short-term hype, Glasner might just be the quiet genius they’ve been overlooking.
