Arsenal Drop Points as Chelsea Hold Gunners to 1–1 Draw at Stamford Bridge
Arsenal’s advantage at the top of the Premier League table has been trimmed to five points, following a tense 1–1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Gunners stepped onto the pitch fully aware that both Manchester City and Liverpool had secured victories earlier in the weekend. City battled to a thrilling 3–2 win over Leeds United, while Liverpool kept their title hopes alive with a 2–0 win over West Ham.
With pressure mounting, Arsenal anticipated a comfortable evening especially after Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo was sent off in the first half. The Ecuadorian received a straight red card after VAR confirmed a reckless lunge on Mikel Merino.
But despite being a man down, Chelsea stunned Arsenal by taking the lead through Trevor Chalobah, whose composed finish shifted momentum firmly toward the home side. Arsenal eventually found a response, with Merino heading in the equaliser to salvage a point.
The draw leaves Arsenal with 30 points after 13 matches, while Chelsea sit at 24 points, maintaining their push to climb into the top-four conversation.

This was one of those matches Arsenal simply had to win.
A title challenger does not often get the luxury of facing a rival reduced to 10 men inside the first half — especially away from home.

But make no mistake: this result feels like a loss for Arsenal.
With City and Liverpool breathing down their necks, these are the fine margins that define a title race. You cannot afford to let the door stay open for Guardiola’s side — because once they walk through, they rarely step back out.
