“Stop Being Hypocrites” – Seyi Law Slams P-Square Over Anti-Tinubu Stance
Popular comedian Seyi Law has reignited a wave of controversy in the entertainment-political space by calling out Nigerian music duo P-Square over their perceived hypocrisy in political alignment and public commentary.
In a candid interview with Teju BabyFace, the comedian — known for his loud support for President Bola Tinubu — didn’t mince words. He expressed disappointment at how some of his fellow entertainers, particularly P-Square, have taken a critical stance against the APC-led government.
“The same people who are against APC today once danced on stage when Buhari was inaugurated.”
Seyi Law referenced a viral moment from 2015, when P-Square performed their hit song ‘E No Easy’ at Muhammadu Buhari’s inauguration. Fast-forward to 2023, the duo were frontliners in the Peter Obi movement, performing during Labour Party campaigns and publicly endorsing the former Anambra governor.
🎤 Politics in Entertainment: Freedom or Flip-flopping?
Seyi Law’s frustrations stem not only from the criticisms he’s faced online but also from what he perceives as selective activism by fellow celebs. He challenged the idea that Osinbajo would have been more “acceptable,” arguing that his APC identity would’ve still been held against him due to Buhari’s legacy.
“Is he not the same Yoruba man? You would have used the badge of Buhari to defeat him.”
The comedian’s statement shines a light on the ever-blurring lines between entertainment and politics in Nigeria. For many celebrities, politics is no longer a backseat affair — it’s a platform for influence and expression. But does that mean shifting loyalties and loud criticism come without consequences?
💭 Opinion: Right Message, Wrong Messenger?
Let’s be real — entertainers have a right to political expression. But when those expressions seem to flip based on who's holding the mic at Aso Rock, fans are left wondering: Is this real concern or career calculation?
Seyi Law may not be everyone's cup of tea, especially on political matters, but he raises a thought-provoking point — consistency matters. If you once sang praises for a regime, then turned around to slam the next from the same party without acknowledging your own part in the past, maybe it's time for some introspection.
📢 What do YOU think?
Is Seyi Law right to call out P-Square?
