“I No Want Wahala Again”: Portable Prays with Charm After Escaping Jail Sentence

“I No Want Wahala Again”: Portable Prays with Charm After Escaping Jail Sentence

Controversial Nigerian street-hop star, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, is once again in the spotlight — this time, not for his usual outbursts, but for what looks like a spiritual appeal for peace and prosperity.

Fresh off a court case that could have landed him behind bars for three months, the singer is choosing tradition and reflection. In a now-viral Instagram video, Portable is seen clutching what appears to be a traditional charm, chanting in Yoruba and calling on divine forces for peace and financial abundance.

“I no want wahala again. I just want money, make money dey come,” he chants, in a tone that mixes prayer with plea.

This comes after the Ifo Magistrate Court in Ogun State found him guilty of assault — an incident dating back to 2022 involving a man named Osimosu Emmanuel. Portable and others were accused of physically assaulting the victim. Though convicted, the court gave him a lifeline: a N30,000 fine instead of jail time — N10,000 for the first count and N20,000 for the second.

💭 Opinion: Portable’s Road to Redemption — Real or Rehearsed?

Portable’s story is a chaotic cocktail of fame, street credibility, and raw controversy. But in this latest episode, the artist appears to be turning a new leaf — or at least, asking the gods to help him do so. And whether this moment is genuine remorse or clever optics, one thing is clear: Portable knows how to stay in the conversation.

The use of traditional elements in the video, coupled with public prayer, reveals a man caught between the expectations of society and the roots that raised him. For many Nigerians, this isn’t just “drama” — it’s a relatable scene. When life becomes overwhelming, we all retreat somewhere: to prayer, to tradition, to hope.

Still, only time will tell if Portable is truly ready to leave the “wahala life” behind or if this is just another act in his ever-unfolding street saga.

Whatever the case, one thing remains unchanged: Portable knows how to keep the streets talking.
Let’s hope next time, it’s for a hit song — not a court summons.
