Capello: Mbappe's Arrival Disrupted Vinicius and Bellingham's Form at Real Madrid

Legendary coach Fabio Capello has sparked fresh debate in the football world by suggesting that the arrival of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid has unintentionally thrown off the chemistry among Los Blancos’ key attackers — Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham.

In a revealing interview with COPE, Capello claimed the trio’s inability to coexist seamlessly on the pitch is behind the inconsistency seen in Madrid’s attacking flow this season.

“With Mbappe’s arrival, Vinicius and Bellingham found themselves competing physically, technically, and positionally,” Capello stated. “They didn’t help each other. It’s been a difficult year because with Mbappe we had to change the system, and then came all the absences in defence.”

While Mbappe has been electric, netting 39 goals in all competitions, Capello’s remarks reflect a deeper concern: that star power alone doesn’t guarantee balance in football.

A Case of Too Many Stars?

Mbappe’s arrival was meant to mark a new Galáctico era at Madrid — and to a large extent, it has. But in trying to fit him into the lineup alongside Bellingham and Vinicius, Madrid may have sacrificed the fluid chemistry that once made them unbeatable.

Vinicius, often Madrid’s go-to man on the left, has had to adjust his positioning. Bellingham, who enjoyed a free-roaming role last season, has appeared more restricted with Mbappe demanding central attacking space. The result? Moments of brilliance, but fewer of the teamwork-driven attacking surges Madrid fans grew used to.

Opinion: When Superstars Collide, Who Adapts?

Capello’s comments might feel harsh — after all, Mbappe has delivered individually. But the truth is, football is not just about individual stats; it's about how the machine works as a whole. And right now, the Madrid engine feels more like a race car with three drivers at the wheel.

It raises a critical question: will Carlo Ancelotti find a tactical solution that allows all three to shine without stepping on each other's toes?

Real Madrid's Reality Check

To make matters more intense, Barcelona sit at the top of the La Liga table, poised to snatch the title — a possible sign that while Madrid bought brilliance, they may have lost balance.
