Jennifer Lopez Faces $300,000 Copyright Lawsuit Over Red Carpet Photos
Popular American musician and actress Jennifer Lopez is currently facing a $300,000 lawsuit for allegedly sharing copyrighted red carpet photos without permission.
Photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency, Backgrid, claim that Lopez posted two of their professionally taken photos from the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on her social media pages without proper authorization. The lawsuit demands $150,000 in damages per photo.
According to the legal complaint, Lopez used the images to promote her brand by tagging her jewellery and clothing designers, which the plaintiffs argue constitutes unauthorized commercial use.
In one of the posts, Lopez captioned the photos “GG Weekend Glamour,” drawing attention to her glamorous look.
This isn’t the first time the superstar has been sued for copyright infringement related to photos—she faced similar lawsuits in 2019 and 2020 for sharing professionally taken images without clearance.
💬 Opinion: The Fine Line of Social Media Sharing
In today’s age where celebrities share every moment with millions of followers, the question of photo rights and copyright has become a complex issue. While it may seem harmless for stars like Lopez to post their own pictures, it’s a reminder that behind every perfect shot is a photographer whose work is protected by law.
This case underscores the importance of respecting creative ownership, even in the digital age, and sets an example for influencers and celebrities alike to secure permissions before sharing images that are not their own.
