"May Yul-Edochie’s Dvorce Is in Progress — Stop the Obsession, Her Lawyer Warns"
In an era where public curiosity often overshadows personal boundaries, Emeka Ugwuonye, the legal counsel to businesswoman and influencer May Yul-Edochie, has stepped forward to set the record straight on her ongoing divorce from Nollywood actor Yul Edochie.
Taking to Facebook on May 25, Ugwuonye didn’t hold back in addressing the rising tide of impatience and assumptions surrounding the highly publicized split. Contrary to public belief, he confirmed that the divorce is actively progressing—but at its own legal pace.
💔 “It’s Not Just About a Breakup, It’s About Justice”
Ugwuonye emphasized that divorce isn’t just about getting the final stamp of separation—it’s a complex legal process with multiple layers:
“A divorce case involves four key issues:
(1) dissolution of the marriage and the right to remarry,
(2) custody, visitation, and child support,
(3) division of marital property, and
(4) damages against Judy for her adultery with Yul.”
According to him, issues of child support and property division have already been resolved—a significant step that proves the case is not stagnant, but strategically advancing. The remaining issues are the formal dissolution of the marriage and the lawsuit for damages against actress Judy Austin, who was publicly entangled in the affair with Yul.
🗣️ Opinion: Why We Must Stop Rushing May’s Healing
Let’s face it—our society has an unhealthy obsession with closure, especially when it comes to women in the spotlight. Some want to see May walk down another aisle just to prove Yul "lost" something. Others demand updates like they’re watching a Netflix series. But here’s the truth: healing isn’t always loud, and justice doesn’t always move fast.
May has already shown extraordinary grace under public pressure. She’s caring for her children, maintaining control of her family home, and thriving financially. Why should she be measured by how quickly she remarries?
Ugwuonye put it best:
“May is free to live her life; the only limitation is her inability to remarry, which is not her priority at this moment.”
💡 Let’s Change the Narrative
This isn’t about rushing to the next chapter—it’s about letting May write it on her own terms. So rather than demanding an update every week or comparing potential new suitors to her ex, maybe the real show of support is patience, privacy, and respect.
She’s not looking for gossip. She’s looking for peace.
Let’s give her that.
📣 What do you think about the public pressure around celebrity divorces? Should fans back off and let the process run its course?
