Influencer VeryDarkMan Warns Davido and Cubana Chiefpriest Against Publicly Campaigning for APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Influencer VeryDarkMan Warns Davido and Cubana Chiefpriest Against Publicly Campaigning for APC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Social media critic and influencer VeryDarkMan (VDM) has issued a strong warning to Nigerian singer Davido and socialite Cubana Chiefpriest, threatening to cut ties with them if they openly campaign for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

VDM, known for his vocal criticism of the APC administration, reacted sharply to the duo’s recent visit to the presidency. In a video message shared on his Instagram page, he stated clearly:

“I don’t have a problem with who anyone chooses to support politically. The only way I will have a problem with Davido, Chiefpriest, or any influencer is if they start publicly campaigning for APC or any political party come 2027. I will stand against you.”

He emphasized his stance on celebrity endorsements in politics, urging:

“Any politician that wants the people to support him should speak for himself. Let him campaign for himself; he should not use celebrities. He should communicate his plans to the people.”

VDM stressed that while citizens have every right to choose who they want to vote for, public figures should avoid influencing voters through endorsements:

“If any celebrity campaigns for any politician, I will come for that celebrity. Let the suffering masses decide. They know best.”

The influencer also acknowledged his positive personal relationship with Davido, recalling his attendance at the singer’s wedding in June 2024, but made it clear his principles would override friendship if political endorsements cross a line.

Opinion: Should Celebrities Remain Neutral or Use Their Influence in Politics?

VDM’s stance highlights a growing debate on the role of celebrities in political campaigns. While many argue that influential figures have a platform and responsibility to shape positive change, others believe their involvement can cloud voters’ judgment and politicize fandom.

In Nigeria’s complex political landscape, the influence of stars like Davido and Cubana Chiefpriest is undeniable. But VeryDarkMan’s call for a clear separation between celebrity and politics underlines a desire for voters to make informed decisions based on policies—not popularity.

What’s your take? Should celebrities publicly endorse politicians or stay neutral to respect voters’ autonomy?
