Nigerian Teen Sensation Uchenna Ogundu Set for Alanyaspor Switch After Impressive Şanlıurfaspor Debut Season
Nigerian forward Uchenna Ogundu is on the verge of completing a major career move to Turkish Super Lig side Alanyaspor, following a breakthrough season in Turkey's second tier.
According to reputable Turkish outlet Haber Şanlıurfa, the 19-year-old has reached a verbal agreement with Alanyaspor for a five-year contract, marking a significant step forward in his career.
Ogundu, who joined Şanlıurfaspor in August 2023, has quickly made a name for himself with his speed, positioning, and goal sense. Since his senior debut in January, he has racked up six goals and two assists in 19 appearances, a performance that caught the eyes of scouts both in Turkey and abroad.
While Scottish Premiership side Hearts FC were previously linked with the striker, Ogundu has opted to stay in Turkey, focusing on continuity and development in a familiar environment.
🗣️ Our Take: A Smart Move for a Promising Talent
At just 19, Uchenna Ogundu is already making smart decisions—prioritizing growth over glamour. While a move to Scotland might have brought him into a more visible European market, staying in Turkey with Alanyaspor allows him to compete at a higher level without losing his momentum.
The Turkish Super Lig is no stranger to nurturing African talent, and Ogundu could well be the next breakout Nigerian star on that stage. If he continues to develop at this pace, a call-up to the Super Eagles might not be far off.
