Do2dtun Slams Bauchi State Hisbah Over DJ & Wedding Entertainment Ban

Do2dtun Slams Bauchi State Hisbah Over DJ & Wedding Entertainment Ban

Popular on-air personality and entertainer, Do2dtun, has strongly criticized the Bauchi State Hisbah Board following their decision to impose strict regulations on weddings and entertainment in the state.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Do2dtun did not hold back in expressing his frustration with the restrictions, which include banning DJs, cultural displays (like Kawayawade and Aloba), gala nights, and other forms of entertainment during marriage ceremonies and public events.

"A government that continues to suppress culture, music, and joy is building a society that breathes fear, not freedom. DJs and performers are not the problem — the system is,” Do2dtun posted.

🛑 Background on the Controversial Ban

The Bauchi State Hisbah Board recently introduced 16 new regulations aimed at what they called the “moral purification” of weddings and recreational activities. The board claims these forms of celebration are responsible for the increase in divorce rates, stating that “the blessings of marriage are lost at the beginning stage due to unholy practices.”

This move has sparked widespread reactions from Nigerians, particularly from the entertainment and youth community, who view it as another attempt to clamp down on creative expression and personal freedoms.

🗣️ Do2dtun’s Opinion Resonates with Many

Known for championing creative freedom and youth empowerment, Do2dtun’s remarks echo the sentiments of many who see the regulations as:

  • Cultural erasure

  • Unjustified moral policing

  • Hindrance to the growth of the entertainment industry

“Instead of focusing on real societal issues like poverty, poor education, and unemployment, you’re targeting DJs and gala nights?” — A follower replied under Do2dtun’s post.

💭 Opinion Corner

While morality remains important in any society, regulating joy, music, and tradition under the guise of religion or conservatism often stifles growth — especially among young people. Culture is not the enemy; it's how people celebrate identity and unity.

Should joy and culture be banned in the name of morality?
Or is this simply another case of misplaced priorities by authorities?
