Virginia Man Kills Wife, Another Man in Jealous Rage — Two Children Found Unharmed in Vehicle
A quiet Virginia town has been rocked by an unthinkable tragedy after 30-year-old Joshua Coleman fatally shot his 22-year-old wife, Mandy Coleman, during a domestic dispute — before allegedly murdering a second man, 68-year-old William Morey, in what authorities are describing as a calculated, cold-blooded act of violence.
🔫 The Timeline of Terror
According to the criminal complaint, Joshua Coleman confessed to shooting his wife in the head inside their Ridgeway, Virginia home on Tuesday, July 22, after accusing her of infidelity.
What followed was even more chilling: Coleman admitted he went looking for another man to kill, saying he “knew he was going to jail anyway.”
He eventually located William Morey — outside Coleman’s own house — and shot him multiple times, leaving his body in the street.
Police soon discovered Morey’s body, and upon entering the residence, also found Mandy Coleman’s lifeless body inside.
🚨 Search for Children Ends Safely
Fearing for the safety of the couple’s two young children, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office immediately launched a coordinated search.
Thankfully, during a traffic stop, deputies apprehended Coleman and found the two children in his vehicle — safe and unharmed.
He was armed with both a handgun and an AR-15 rifle at the time of his arrest.
⚖️ Charges and Investigation
Joshua Coleman now faces:
Two counts of first-degree murder
Child abuse charges
Potential federal weapons charges
He is currently being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center.
Authorities have not confirmed the relationship between William Morey and the Colemans, but the investigation is ongoing.
💬 Sheriff’s Statement
“This is a heartbreaking and tragic situation that has deeply affected two families and our entire community,” said Sheriff Wayne Davis.
“Our hearts go out to the loved ones of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.”
💔 Opinion — A Devastating Reminder of Domestic Violence’s Worst Outcome
This tragic case is a brutal reminder of what unchecked rage, suspicion, and domestic instability can escalate into. Two lives are lost, two children are now without parents, and an entire community is left grieving.
Whether fueled by jealousy, fear, or mental breakdown, violence is never the answer — and families and neighbors must remain vigilant in spotting signs of danger before it's too late.
If you or someone you know is in a toxic, abusive, or controlling relationship, please seek help.
There is no justification for violence — and no excuse that undoes the pain left behind.
