IVD Remanded in Kirikiri Over Ongoing Domestic Violence Case
Nigerian businessman and popular auto dealer Ikechukwu Ogbonna, better known as IVD, has reportedly been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre following his arrest last week.
The businessman was apprehended at the airport while allegedly attempting to travel to Qatar. Reports indicate that his arrest is connected to an ongoing domestic violence case involving his late wife, Bimbo, which is still before the court.
Sources revealed that IVD had been under a travel restriction due to the case, making his attempt to leave the country a violation of court directives.
In a new update on Friday, it was confirmed that IVD will remain in custody at Kirikiri until September 28, when the court is expected to reconvene on the matter.
Opinion:
The IVD case is a stark reminder that justice systems — though sometimes slow — are watching closely, and that accountability doesn’t take a vacation. While many high-profile figures often believe they can outrun the law or sidestep due process, this incident proves that fame and wealth do not place one above legal boundaries.
Beyond the headlines, this case also reopens conversations about domestic violence and the deep scars it leaves on families and communities. If proven guilty, no punishment will undo the pain caused — but if innocent, the process must still be respected. One thing is certain: Nigeria is watching, and September 28 can’t come soon enough.
