Warri Wolves Sign 12 Players Ahead of NPFL Return
Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Warri Wolves have bolstered their squad with 12 new signings ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The new recruits are: Ogar Okpam, Gift Isiom, Justus Ohanu, Ekene Olisema, Othuke Egbo, Edafe Kator, Oladeji Israel, Seth Mayi, Adebambo Ade, Orji Martins, Ogbu Chisom, and Bassey Bassey.
The Seasiders are making a highly anticipated return to Nigeria’s top flight after a four-year absence, and will kick off their campaign with a tricky away fixture against Katsina United at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Friday, August 22.
Opinion
Warri Wolves’ aggressive recruitment drive shows clear intent: they are not back in the NPFL just to make up the numbers. Signing 12 players in one window is bold, and while it speaks to ambition, it also raises questions about chemistry and adaptation. Football is not only about assembling talent; it is about building a unit that can stand the test of Nigeria’s fiercely competitive league.
Their opening fixture against Katsina United will be a perfect litmus test. For a team re-entering the league after four years, the pressure will be immense—not only from opponents but from their passionate fanbase who have longed for top-flight football’s return to Warri.
On a broader level, Warri Wolves’ comeback is good news for Nigerian football. Their history, fan culture, and contribution to the NPFL cannot be overlooked. Their return brings more colour, rivalry, and energy to the league.
If the new signings can quickly gel, the Seasiders could surprise many and even push for a strong mid-table finish or beyond. But if cohesion takes time, they may find themselves in a survival battle. Either way, their journey this season promises to be one of the most intriguing storylines in the NPFL.
After four years away, Warri Wolves are back. Now comes the real test—staying up and making their presence felt.
