Wolves Closing In on Nigeria’s Tolu Arokodare in €25m Move
Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare is on the verge of a blockbuster move to the Premier League, with Wolverhampton Wanderers preparing a €25 million bid for the Genk forward, according to Belgian outlet HLN.
The 24-year-old lit up the Belgian Pro League last season, finishing as the league’s top scorer and drawing interest from European giants AC Milan and Napoli.
Signed by Genk for just €5 million two years ago, Arokodare’s rapid rise has now positioned him for a big-money transfer to England. Wolves see him as the direct replacement for Jørgen Strand-Larsen, who is set to join Newcastle United before the close of the transfer window.
In a strong sign of his likely departure, the forward has been left out of Genk’s squad for Thursday’s UEFA Europa Conference League clash with Bulgarian side Lezh Poznan.
Opinion: A Risk or the Missing Piece for Wolves? 🐺⚽
This could be the kind of move that defines both Arokodare’s career and Wolves’ season. The Premier League is a huge step up from Belgium, but what Arokodare offers is exactly what Wolves have lacked — a reliable, physical, goal-hungry No. 9.
At 6’5”, he has the presence to trouble any defender, and his finishing instincts are sharp. Yet, the Premier League can be unforgiving to strikers who thrive on confidence. If Arokodare adapts quickly, Wolves might have unearthed a gem for just €25m in today’s inflated market.
For Nigeria, this move is also exciting. With more Super Eagles stars making their mark in top leagues, Arokodare could soon join the likes of Victor Osimhen and Taiwo Awoniyi in flying the green-and-white flag proudly.
The question is: can he carry his Belgian scoring boots into England, or will the Premier League test expose weaknesses he never had to worry about in Belgium? Either way, Wolves fans may be in for a thrilling ride.
