Diddy Denied Bail, Seeks Presidential Pardon Ahead of October Sentencing
Embattled rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly reached out to the White House in hopes of securing a presidential pardon, following his conviction on prostitution-related charges and a denial of bail earlier this week.
Diddy was found guilty in July of two counts of transportation for prostitution, offences that could land him behind bars for up to 20 years. However, he was cleared of more serious charges including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which carried potential life sentences.
Legal and Political Drama
Speaking to CNN, Nicole Westmoreland, a lawyer from Diddy’s high-profile defense team, confirmed:
“It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon.”
The outreach is believed to have been directed to Donald Trump’s team, with the former president confirming the contact in a recent Newsmax interview.
Trump's Response: "More Likely a No"
Although Trump acknowledged that Diddy’s team had spoken to him about a possible pardon, he appeared lukewarm on the idea:
“I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great. And seemed like a nice guy... But when I ran for office, he was very hostile.”
When pressed about the possibility of a pardon, Trump said bluntly:
“I don't know. It makes it more — I’m being honest, it makes it more difficult to do... I would say so.”
With sentencing set for October, the clock is ticking for Combs, whose legal troubles have made headlines globally. While a White House pardon remains highly uncertain, all eyes will be on the next moves from both Diddy’s camp and the political arena.
