Slavia Prague Secure Nigerian Defender Samuel Isife on Long-Term Deal

Slavia Prague Secure Nigerian Defender Samuel Isife on Long-Term Deal

Czech First League giants, Slavia Prague, have officially confirmed the signing of promising Nigerian defender Samuel Isife, adding another exciting talent to their ranks.

The 21-year-old right-back joins from fellow Czech side Dukla Prague and has penned a long-term deal with the Red and Whites that will run until December 31, 2029.

Although the transfer is complete, Isife will remain with Dukla until January 2026, when he is expected to officially link up with Slavia.

Isife, who began his professional career in the Czech Republic with Vlašim, continues a growing tradition of Nigerian players donning the Slavia Prague shirt. The likes of Peter Olayinka and Yira Sor have previously shone at the club, leaving big footprints for him to follow.

Opinion: A Bold Move for Isife and a Bright Signal for Nigerian Football

This deal is more than just another European transfer; it is a statement of trust in Nigerian talent. At just 21, Isife has been handed a five-year contract, a clear vote of confidence from one of the Czech Republic’s biggest clubs. That kind of long-term commitment shows Slavia Prague believe he can become a cornerstone of their future.

For Nigeria, this is encouraging news. With more Super Eagles hopefuls gaining opportunities in competitive European leagues, the pool of talent for the national team grows richer. Isife’s defensive discipline and attacking drive down the right flank could one day see him knock on the Super Eagles’ door.

Slavia Prague, known for nurturing African stars, may have just found their next gem in Samuel Isife. If he follows the path of Olayinka and Sor, Nigerians could soon be cheering another familiar face lighting up European football nights.

For now, the young defender has time to sharpen his game at Dukla before stepping onto Slavia’s bigger stage. And when he does, the football world — and especially Nigeria — will be watching.
