Victor Boniface Breaks Silence After Collapsed AC Milan Move
Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has finally spoken out after his much-anticipated loan move to AC Milan fell through.
The Bayer Leverkusen striker had travelled to Milan for medicals ahead of a deal, but the Rossoneri reportedly became concerned with aspects of the test results and decided to pull the plug.
Boniface, however, has now secured a loan switch to Werder Bremen, where he will continue his development and push for regular playing time.
Reacting to the collapse of the Milan deal, the Nigerian international remained calm and philosophical:
“The Milan deal not going through, that’s not on me. They decided not to go through with it.
I have a strong mentality. If the deal was meant to happen, it’s meant to happen.
If it wasn’t meant to happen, I move on to the next thing…”
Opinion: A Lesson in Resilience
Boniface’s response is a refreshing display of mental strength in a footballing world where dashed transfers often break players’ spirits. For a young striker whose stock has risen rapidly, missing out on a historic move to a European giant like AC Milan could have been crushing. Instead, Boniface shows maturity — understanding that football is full of twists, and sometimes, setbacks are setups for even greater comebacks.
His loan move to Werder Bremen might not carry the glamour of the San Siro, but it could provide exactly what he needs right now: consistent game time, less pressure, and a platform to prove himself again. Many Nigerian stars have shown that resilience, not just raw talent, makes the difference in a career that can change overnight.
In truth, Milan’s loss could be Bremen’s gain — and perhaps Boniface’s destiny is to shine even brighter elsewhere. After all, football has a way of rewarding those who keep their heads up and their boots ready.
