European Clubs Hail Super Eagles After Algeria Victory

European Clubs Hail Super Eagles After Algeria Victory

Two European clubs, Sevilla and Beşiktaş, have joined the growing list of admirers praising the Super Eagles following Nigeria’s impressive 2-0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria booked their place in the semi-finals on Saturday thanks to goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams, ending Algeria’s campaign and extending the Super Eagles’ strong run in Morocco. The win has now set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash against tournament hosts Morocco, who also secured a 2-0 win over Cameroon in their own quarter-final encounter on Friday.

Reacting to the result, Beşiktaş, who have Wilfred Ndidi on their books, took to social media to celebrate the midfielder’s progress with Nigeria.

“We congratulate our footballer Wilfred Ndidi and his country Nigeria for advancing to the semi-finals by defeating Algeria 2-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations. Good luck on the road to the final, Ndidi,” the Turkish club tweeted.

Spanish side Sevilla also showed their excitement after seeing their forward Akor Adams find the net for Nigeria, posting a jubilant tweet that read: “AKORRRRRRR,” accompanied by a fist-bump emoji.

Opinion: Super Eagles Are Winning More Than Matches

Beyond the goals and results, Nigeria’s AFCON journey is clearly resonating across Europe. When clubs like Sevilla and Beşiktaş openly celebrate their players’ international success, it highlights the growing respect for the Super Eagles and the quality within the squad.

This kind of recognition also speaks to the confidence European clubs have in Nigerian players performing on the biggest stages. For Akor Adams, moments like this can further cement his value at Sevilla, while Ndidi’s influence continues to underline why he remains a trusted figure at club and country level.

As Nigeria prepare to face Morocco, the Super Eagles are not just carrying the hopes of their fans back home, but also the pride of European clubs watching their stars shine. If these performances continue, the support — and the belief — will only grow louder.
