Destiny Boy’s Father Appeals for Help After Singer’s SUV Goes Missing

Destiny Boy’s Father Appeals for Help After Singer’s SUV Goes Missing

The grieving father of late Afrobeat sensation Afeez Adeshina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, has appealed to Nigerians for assistance after his son’s Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) reportedly went missing just days following the young artiste’s passing.

In a video that went viral on Tuesday, the visibly distressed father said the vehicle, purchased from Lycon Autos, was returned to the dealership under unclear circumstances and has not been recovered since. He explained that he personally accompanied Destiny Boy during the purchase, and the SUV was initially delivered to their home by a driver assigned by the dealership.

“Nigerians, please help me. My son has a car, and the car is with Lycon Autos. Although the car is not new, it is an SUV jeep. We went together to buy it,” he said.
“Lycon Autos assigned a driver for him that day to bring the car home. Later, Destiny started using the driver personally.”

According to the father, issues arose when the driver claimed Destiny Boy owed him money and returned the SUV to the dealership without informing the family.

“The driver said Destiny was owing him, so he took the car back to where we bought it from. I don’t even have the driver’s number. If the car were here, I would have gone to pick it up,” he added.

Destiny Boy tragically passed away on Sunday at the age of 22. His mother, Saida Adeshina, earlier explained that the rising singer had battled a long-term mysterious illness, described as “Ogu oru,” which often caused seizures. She also dismissed rumours linking her son’s death to money rituals, calling such claims false and insensitive. Saida emphasized that the family had tried every possible medical, traditional, and spiritual measure to help him.

Opinion: A Family’s Pain Compounded by Uncertainty

The loss of Destiny Boy is heartbreaking on its own — a young life and promising career cut tragically short. Now, the family faces the additional distress of an unaccounted SUV, a symbol of their son’s life and independence.

This situation highlights how, in times of grief, families can be left vulnerable to confusion, misinformation, and avoidable disputes. The driver’s actions, whether motivated by misunderstanding or dispute, have only deepened the family’s suffering.

For Nigerians and fans of Destiny Boy, the call is clear: support, empathy, and assistance where possible. Helping the family recover the vehicle may seem small in the face of their loss, but it represents solidarity with a grieving household trying to honor their son’s memory.

Beyond the SUV, the tragedy reminds us to handle celebrity deaths with care, resisting sensationalism and speculation. Destiny Boy’s life and legacy deserve respect, not rumours — and perhaps, a community willing to come together in support of those left behind.
