Mr Real Apologizes to D’banj, Backtracks on CREAM Platform Criticism
Nigerian rapper Okafor Victor, popularly known as Mr Real, has publicly apologized to music mogul D’banj after previously criticizing the latter’s CREAM (Creative Reality Entertainment Art & Music) platform.
The controversy began after D’banj claimed in a November 2025 interview on The Micon Podcast that CREAM is valued at $3 billion. In response, Mr Real accused the superstar of merely “packaging” the platform and alleged that he had not been paid an agreed N20 million ambassadorial deal linked to CREAM.
However, in a recent video shared on Instagram on Monday, Mr Real made a complete u-turn, tendering a heartfelt apology.
“Hello everyone, this video is an apology video to my boss D’banj. I know most of you must have seen what is happening between me, D’banj, and the CREAM platform. I misunderstood and misinterpreted some things concerning CREAM, and I want to use this opportunity to say I’m very very sorry,” he said.
“To D’banj, you play a very big role in my career. I regret the tone and public manner of my recent comments. I hold D’banj in the highest regard, and I apologise for how the situation was handled. I have withdrawn my comments, and I will not make further public statements on this matter while cooperating to resolve this matter amicably.”
The apology comes shortly after reports that D’banj, through his lawyers, petitioned against Mr Real over the remarks.
Opinion: A Lesson in Public Disputes and Professional Respect
This episode highlights how misunderstandings, when aired publicly, can escalate quickly — especially in the high-profile world of Nigerian music. Mr Real’s initial accusations were serious, touching on both business integrity and professional reputation. Yet, his decision to issue a public apology shows maturity and a willingness to preserve relationships in the industry.
For emerging artists, this is a reminder that even disagreements over contracts or platforms are best handled discreetly. Public criticism can damage reputations and create legal complications. Mr Real’s reversal not only helps repair bridges with D’banj but also demonstrates that accountability and respect are as valuable as talent in sustaining a long-term career.
Ultimately, the situation may turn into a positive example: disagreements can be resolved without burning professional relationships, and even moments of conflict can become opportunities for growth and reconciliation in the entertainment world.
