Seun Kuti Fires Back at Wizkid Over Wife Insult Amid Ongoing Feud

Seun Kuti Fires Back at Wizkid Over Wife Insult Amid Ongoing Feud

The public feud between Seun Kuti and Nigerian superstar Wizkid has escalated after Wizkid reportedly called Seun Kuti’s wife, Yetunde Kuti, “ugly” during their ongoing social media spat.

Reacting on a recent livestream, Seun Kuti expressed his disappointment, condemning Wizkid for dragging women and children into the argument. He emphasized that a real man does not involve partners or family members in personal disputes.

“Wizkid that has an old woman as a partner is insulting my wife. You are calling my wife ugly, should I be doing that with you and be insulting your wife?” Kuti said.

“Your fans are insulting my wife and kid. They are all over my kid’s page. But all that can’t break me. I want my child to experience what I experienced so she can be strong like me.”

Kuti also criticized Wizkid for what he perceives as identity confusion, pointing out the multiple nicknames the singer uses, including “Big Wiz” and “Biggest Bird.”

“I know you are depressed fam. What you need to do, Wizkid, is to rediscover yourself… You have no identity – is it Big Wiz? Is it Wizkid? Is it Biggest Bird? Na me you still copy,” Kuti added.

The ongoing feud, which began over Seun Kuti’s criticisms of Wizkid’s music and the repeated comparisons to Fela Kuti, has increasingly drawn in fans and followers, who continue to debate the merits of both artists’ careers online.

Opinion: When Feuds Cross Personal Boundaries

This latest exchange highlights a key issue in celebrity conflicts: the line between professional criticism and personal attacks. Seun Kuti is correct in calling out the involvement of partners and children—attacking family members rarely advances a debate and often escalates tensions unnecessarily.

While celebrity feuds can attract attention and engage fans, they can also normalize disrespect when personal insults are thrown publicly. In this case, the dispute has shifted from discussions about artistry and legacy into deeply personal territory, which may overshadow meaningful conversation about their music or influence.

For both artists, there’s an opportunity to reclaim the narrative by focusing on their craft rather than targeting family. After all, true influence is measured not by online battles, but by the art and positive impact left for fans and future generations.
