AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Head to Marrakech as Quarter-Final Dream Gathers Momentum

AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Head to Marrakech as Quarter-Final Dream Gathers Momentum

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are set to fly out to Marrakech on Thursday ahead of their quarter-final fixture at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, TalkTalk Nigeria reports.

Éric Chelle’s men will face the winner of the Round of 16 clash between Democratic Republic of Congo and Algeria, as the tournament edges closer to its business end.

The Super Eagles have made Fès their fortress so far, playing all their group matches and their Round of 16 encounter at the Complexe Sportif de Fès. They will continue training in the city before departing for Marrakech, with part of the team’s contingent already leaving on Tuesday for the six-hour bus journey.

Nigeria sealed their place in the quarter-finals in emphatic fashion, dismantling Mozambique 4-0 on Monday night in a dominant display that sent a clear message to the rest of the continent.

The highly anticipated quarter-final match will take place at the Marrakech Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 5:00 pm Nigerian time.

Opinion: A Team Growing in Confidence at the Right Time

Beyond the logistics and travel plans, this Super Eagles squad is beginning to look like a team peaking at the perfect moment. The commanding win over Mozambique wasn’t just about goals—it was about authority, cohesion, and belief.

Training together consistently in Fès has helped the players build rhythm and understanding, and that unity could prove decisive as they step into Marrakech for a tougher test. Whether it’s DR Congo’s physical intensity or Algeria’s technical quality awaiting them, Nigeria appear mentally and tactically ready.

As the pressure rises, so does expectation—but if this Super Eagles side continues to combine discipline with flair, fans may dare to believe that another deep AFCON run, and possibly glory, is within reach.
