Moses Simon Dismisses Rift Rumours, Insists Super Eagles Remain United
Paris FC winger and Super Eagles star Moses Simon has brushed aside speculations of internal conflict within the Nigerian national team following recent incidents involving Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Friday, Simon made it clear that unity, teamwork, and a shared objective remain the foundation of the Super Eagles camp. According to him, the narratives of rivalry or division are far from the reality within the team.
“But first it’s teamwork. We are all part of the same team, and as you can see, we are united,” Simon said. “Before they score, some other players give them the ball to score. So, of course, I feel happy for them.”
The winger emphasized that individual brilliance is secondary to collective success, even when the squad boasts some of Africa’s finest talents. He noted that both Lookman and Osimhen are top players, but the focus remains on how everyone contributes to the team’s overall goal.
“For me, yes, of course, we play for them. Since they are two of Africa’s top players — the last one won it — we are all working together as a team, including the coach, with a common goal,” Simon added.
He further dismissed comparisons and personal accolades, stressing that the Super Eagles are not interested in internal rankings. “There’s no time to decide who is the best or who isn’t. The most important thing is that the team is the best. We all are the best. We just want to win.”
Opinion: Moses Simon’s comments offer a refreshing dose of clarity at a time when fan debates and social media narratives often exaggerate harmless moments into full-blown controversies. In modern football, where star power can easily overshadow collective effort, the Super Eagles’ emphasis on unity is both reassuring and commendable.
Nigeria’s strength has always been rooted in teamwork rather than individual rivalry, and Simon’s words reaffirm that the squad understands what truly matters. If this unity translates consistently onto the pitch, the Super Eagles won’t just silence rumours — they’ll send a strong message that success is built on togetherness, not ego.
