Eguavoen Has Called Up 28 Super Falcons For Comoros
Lagos · Thursday 1 October 2026
Augustine Eguavoen has invited 28 players to the Super Falcons for their 2028 Olympic qualifier against Comoros, the first step towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Ashleigh Plumptre returns, and the squad includes a group of younger players. Both legs are at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, on 9 and 13 October.
The route to Los Angeles
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| Round | Second round, after a bye |
| Opponent | Comoros |
| Dates | 9 and 13 October |
| Venue for both legs | Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne |
| Interim coach | Augustine Eguavoen |
| Assistants | Christopher Danjuma and Ayisat Yusuf |
The Falcons received a bye as one of the three highest-ranked teams in the competition.
A squad without Ohale
This is the first Super Falcons squad since Osinachi Ohale retired after sixteen years and five WAFCON titles, which we wrote about on Saturday. Plumptre's return matters partly for that reason: the defence needs experience while the younger players are bedded in.
The men lost in Bissau. The women can at least give the country a good week in October.
Eguavoen is an interim appointment while the NFF searches for a permanent coach. Two convincing wins and some new names worth keeping would make that search easier, whoever ends up doing the job.
