RMD Tells Nigerians To Stop Just Criticising And Propose Solutions
Lagos · Thursday 1 October 2026
Richard Mofe-Damijo has urged Nigerians to move beyond criticising the country's problems and to contribute to solving them. "Don't stand and just criticise, propose solutions," he told the 2026 Pivot Nigeria Conference in Lagos. He acknowledged that the challenges are real.
A busy week for RMD
| Where | What |
|---|---|
| Netflix | A scene-stealing cameo in A Different World |
| Glover Memorial Hall | A tribute to Olu Jacobs |
| Pivot Nigeria Conference | A call to propose, not just protest |
Few Nigerian actors move between screen, stage and civic life as comfortably.
Where it can be misused
"Propose solutions" can become a way of telling ordinary people that criticism itself is unpatriotic. That is not what RMD said, but it is how the line is often used by those in power. Citizens are not obliged to arrive with a policy paper before they are allowed to say that prices are too high or that roads are unsafe. Holding leaders accountable is a contribution.
Criticism tells a government what is broken. Solutions tell it how to fix it. A country needs both, and it needs the first one to be safe.
On Independence Day, the day the President said the hard part is over, RMD's challenge cuts both ways: to citizens to engage, and to leaders to listen to the people who do.
