Queen Atang Rejects Ex’s Valentine’s Day Message, Stresses She’s Moved On
Queen Atang made headlines on Valentine’s Day by publicly turning down an ex-boyfriend who attempted to reconnect with her via message.
Atang, who confirmed that her marriage to David Oyekanmi ended last year, shared a screenshot of the message from the unnamed ex, describing the timing and intent as inappropriate. She highlighted that the same ex had once spread false stories about her, causing emotional distress during 2024, around her wedding period.
“In 2024, he recruited friends and acquaintances to circulate damaging claims about me on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Snapchat. It hurt deeply, but I chose not to respond publicly and left the matter in God’s hands,” Atang explained.
She also praised her friends for defending her online during that period, underscoring the importance of having a support system when dealing with personal attacks. Atang further reflected on the Valentine’s Day attempt, questioning her ex’s motives, suggesting he might believe she is vulnerable after her recent separation. She made it clear that she has moved on and is not revisiting past relationships.
The reality star clarified that her relationship with the man dated back to 2013 while she was a student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), and emphasized that once a relationship ends, she does not revisit it.
Opinion: Setting Boundaries Is Self-Love
Queen Atang’s response is a powerful reminder of the importance of boundaries and self-respect. Social media often encourages public drama, but Atang chose to handle the situation with dignity, exposing the inappropriate behavior without descending into retaliation.
Her decision to share the incident also sends a subtle but strong message: moving on from toxic or damaging relationships is not just healthy — it is necessary. In a culture that sometimes pressures individuals to revisit past romances, her stance shows maturity, courage, and emotional independence.
For fans, this is more than a Valentine’s Day story; it’s a lesson in valuing yourself, protecting your peace, and surrounding yourself with those who genuinely support you. Atang’s focus on growth and moving forward demonstrates that love isn’t just about romance — it’s also about respecting yourself first.
