Carter Efe Opens Up About Father’s Brutal Murder in Ogun State
Popular Nigerian skitmaker and streamer Carter Efe has shared the heartbreaking story of how his father, a police officer, was tragically killed during an armed robbery in Ogun State several years ago.
Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Carter Efe recounted that his father had just finished duty and opted to follow a police van to the nearest bus-stop to their home. However, on the way, they encountered a robbery operation on the highway. Mistaking the armed men in military camouflage for legitimate security personnel, his father and colleagues alighted to assess the situation—only to be ambushed. The robbers opened fire upon recognizing the officers’ uniforms.
“My dad had closed from duty and was heading home but he decided to enter the police van to the nearest bus-stop to our house, we were staying in Ogun State then,” Carter Efe explained. “They ran into a gridlock and some men in military camouflage were robbing. My dad and his colleagues alighted from the van to check what was going on but immediately the robbers spotted them in police uniform, they opened fire on them. My dad is on YouTube—I saw my dad’s lifeless body on the ground with his police uniform.”
He added, “I am no stranger to pain. I have gone through a lot of pains. So, there is no pain that will make me stop my grind.”
Opinion: Turning Personal Tragedy Into Resilience
Carter Efe’s story is both chilling and deeply human. Losing a parent in such a violent, public manner leaves scars that are difficult to articulate, yet he has used this personal tragedy as a source of motivation rather than despair.
It is a stark reminder of the risks faced by law enforcement personnel and the devastating ripple effects of violent crime on families. Beyond statistics, these incidents carry human stories of grief, trauma, and resilience. Carter’s ability to continue his creative journey despite this heartbreak speaks volumes about his strength and determination.
While no words can erase such a loss, his openness about the experience brings awareness to the dangers police officers face daily and the enduring impact on their families. It also inspires audiences to confront challenges head-on, turning even the most painful experiences into fuel for growth and perseverance.
Carter Efe’s story is a testament to human resilience: that even in the face of profound loss, one can choose to rise, create, and inspire.
