Alan Pardew Backs Arsenal F.C. for Premier League Glory, Says Title Race Could Be Settled by April
Former Crystal Palace F.C. manager Alan Pardew has tipped Arsenal F.C. to clinch the Premier League title ahead of defending champions Manchester City F.C. this season.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Pardew pointed to Arsenal’s current points advantage as a decisive factor in the race. The Gunners are five points clear of City, although they have played one more game.
“I think the points total they’ve got is enough of a cushion,” Pardew said. “When you look at Man City, they have lost five matches already. I don’t think they can lose six or seven. So, for me, it will be Arsenal. The Premier League will be decided in April.
“For Arsenal, if you can remain undefeated until April, you will win the league.”
Pardew’s comments reflect growing belief that Mikel Arteta’s side may finally be ready to end their long wait for a league crown. Arsenal have shown resilience, tactical maturity, and squad depth this season — qualities that were questioned in previous campaigns.
Opinion: Is This Finally Arsenal’s Moment?
Pardew’s prediction is bold but not unrealistic. Arsenal’s consistency has been their greatest strength. Unlike previous seasons where late slip-ups cost them dearly, this team appears mentally tougher and more composed in high-pressure situations.
However, writing off Manchester City at this stage could be dangerous. Pep Guardiola’s side have built a reputation for late-season surges, often turning tight races into comfortable victories. Experience in title run-ins remains a significant advantage for City.
The real test for Arsenal will come in March and April — the months that typically define champions. If they maintain defensive discipline and avoid key injuries, Pardew’s forecast could well become reality.
For neutral fans, the prospect of a fiercely contested title race is thrilling. For Arsenal supporters, belief is growing stronger by the week. And if April truly becomes decisive, as Pardew suggests, English football may be witnessing a changing of the guard.
One thing is certain: this Premier League season is far from over — but Arsenal currently hold the cards.
