Wife of Fuji Singer Shanko Rasheed Alleges Abandonment After Son’s Death
The wife of popular Nigerian Fuji singer Shanko Rasheed has accused him of abandoning her and their children following the tragic death of their son.
The allegations emerged shortly after Shanko publicly announced the loss of his child on social media, describing it as an unimaginable pain no parent should endure.
In a video circulating online, the woman recounted how she was left to care for their three children alone after suffering an accident on October 11, which impaired her legs and made it impossible for her to work. She said their landlord issued a quit notice, and despite taking a loan to cover the rent, she alleged that Shanko collected the funds but failed to support the family.
The woman further claimed that they were forced out of their home and had to seek temporary shelter in a church. She added that the singer refused to pay the children’s school fees, even as their late son fell ill and required medical attention. According to her, she relied on loans and the generosity of others to cover hospital bills. She also stated that Shanko has taken custody of their two surviving children.
She pleaded for public assistance, saying: “We were later sent out of the house and we had to stay in a church. He refused to pay the school fees despite all my efforts to beg him. When my son fell sick, I struggled on my own to raise money for his treatment. I took loans and people helped me. I am begging Nigerians to please help me. He has now taken our two children away from me.”
As of this report, Shanko Rasheed has not publicly responded to the allegations.
Opinion: Balancing Public Grief with Private Responsibilities
This situation underscores a difficult reality in the lives of public figures: personal tragedy is magnified when shared with the world. Shanko’s loss of his child is deeply heartbreaking, but the allegations by his wife suggest that private responsibilities—especially toward immediate family—must remain a priority, even amid grief.
It is important to recognize both sides. While Shanko may be processing immense personal pain, the claims highlight the vulnerability of partners and children who may feel unsupported during such crises. Public figures often receive sympathy for their losses, but behind the scenes, family members can struggle quietly.
Regardless of the circumstances, this situation serves as a reminder of the critical role of communication, care, and responsibility in family life. As the public waits for Shanko’s response, empathy and a measured approach are essential—not only for him as a grieving parent but also for the wife and children navigating the aftermath.
The hope is that both parties find a resolution that ensures the welfare of the children, who are the most affected in this painful chapter.
