Rotimi Salami Hospitalised After Health Scare, Opens Up on Exhaustion

Rotimi Salami Hospitalised After Health Scare, Opens Up on Exhaustion

Popular Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has been hospitalised following a serious health scare that nearly cost him his life.

The actor made the revelation on Monday via his Instagram page, where he shared a photo of himself on a hospital bed. According to Salami, he survived a critical 48-hour period, attributing his recovery to divine intervention.

“I survived the last 48 hours because God said yes,” he wrote, expressing gratitude while also acknowledging the physical toll his recent work has taken on him.

Salami revealed that his involvement in the newly released cinema project Kilanko, a film made in honour of late Nollywood figure Allwell Ademola, pushed his body to the limit.

“I’ve truly stressed this body. Kilanko has taken too much from me,” he admitted, hinting at the intense demands behind the scenes of the production.

🧠 Opinion: Success Shouldn’t Come at the Cost of Health

Rotimi Salami’s situation is a reminder of something many people ignore — the cost of overworking the body.

In the entertainment industry, especially Nollywood, there’s often pressure to keep producing, keep showing up, and keep delivering, sometimes without enough attention to rest and recovery. For actors like Salami, passion can easily turn into exhaustion when boundaries are not set.

What’s striking is his honesty. Instead of blaming external forces, he admitted that he pushed himself too hard. That kind of self-awareness is important — not just for him, but for others watching.

There’s also a deeper conversation here about how the industry operates. Tight schedules, multiple roles, and high expectations can push creatives beyond safe limits. While dedication is admirable, sustainability is even more important.

At the end of the day, no project — no matter how meaningful — is worth a life-threatening situation.

Salami’s recovery is good news. But hopefully, it also serves as a wake-up call: success should never come at the expense of one’s health.
