Iyabo Ojo Breaks Silence, Blames Toyin Abraham for Renewed Rift with Funke Akindele

Iyabo Ojo Breaks Silence, Blames Toyin Abraham for Renewed Rift with Funke Akindele

Popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has spoken out following the renewed tension between Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele.

The drama resurfaced after Funke Akindele publicly snubbed Toyin Abraham at Iyabo Ojo’s movie premiere over the weekend, sparking widespread reactions online.

Addressing the situation via Instagram, Iyabo revealed that she had previously intervened to settle the long-standing feud between both actresses. According to her, the agreement reached at the time included a strict condition that neither party would engage in online shading or indirect accusations if issues arose.

She explained that the latest fallout was triggered after Toyin Abraham made complaints about her movie performance in cinemas, suggesting sabotage — a statement that led some fans to accuse Funke Akindele and reignited tensions.

“I tried my very best to settle both of them… cried, knelt down, begged both parties to embrace peace,” Iyabo said, recalling her earlier efforts to reconcile the duo.

However, clearly frustrated by the situation, she added that she no longer wishes to be involved in their conflict, urging the public to respect her decision.

🧠 Opinion: When Ego and Public Pressure Collide

This situation highlights a recurring issue in the entertainment industry — private conflicts becoming public spectacles.

Iyabo Ojo’s role as a mediator shows that efforts were made behind the scenes to restore peace. But maintaining peace in an industry driven by public perception, fan reactions, and social media narratives is never easy.

The key problem here seems to be communication — or the lack of it. When issues are taken online, even indirectly, fans amplify them, pick sides, and often escalate tensions beyond control.

Toyin Abraham’s alleged comments may not have directly named anyone, but in today’s digital space, suggestions are often enough to ignite controversy.

On the other hand, Funke Akindele’s public reaction — or lack of interaction — also sends a message, whether intentional or not.

What makes this more complicated is that both actresses are influential figures with loyal fanbases. That influence can either calm situations or worsen them, depending on how it’s managed.

Iyabo’s decision to step back might actually be the most realistic move. Sometimes, peace cannot be forced — especially when emotions, pride, and public scrutiny are involved.

In the end, this is less about who is right or wrong and more about how conflicts are handled in the spotlight.

Because in Nollywood, just like in life, not every disagreement needs an audience.
