Iheanacho Celebrates Scottish Title Glory as Celtic Clinch Historic 56th League Crown

Iheanacho Celebrates Scottish Title Glory as Celtic Clinch Historic 56th League Crown

Kelechi Iheanacho has added another major honour to his career after winning the Scottish league title with Celtic FC.

Celtic secured the championship in dramatic fashion after coming from behind to defeat Heart of Midlothian FC 3-1 at Paradise on Saturday, sealing their 56th league title in club history.

The Nigerian forward came on at halftime, replacing Sebastian Tounekti, as Celtic stepped up their performance in the second half to complete the comeback.

Hearts had taken the lead in the 38th minute through Michael Steinwender, but Celtic responded before the break when Arne Engels converted from the penalty spot. Goals from Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand later secured the win for Martin O’Neill’s side.

The Hoops finished the campaign on 82 points, narrowly edging Hearts by two points in a tightly contested title race.

Opinion: Another Trophy for Iheanacho, but Questions Remain About His Role

While Kelechi Iheanacho’s title win with Celtic is another significant achievement in his career, his role in the campaign may still raise questions for both fans and analysts. Coming off the bench in the decisive match reflects that he is not yet central to the team’s attacking setup.

Nevertheless, winning trophies remains an important part of a player’s legacy, and being part of a title-winning squad at a club as historic as Celtic is no small feat. It offers Iheanacho an opportunity to rebuild momentum and confidence after challenging periods in recent seasons.

For Nigerian football supporters, his success abroad is encouraging, but many will still be hoping to see him become a more influential figure at club level, especially with international competitions approaching.

Ultimately, the title is a positive milestone — but for Iheanacho, the next challenge may be proving he can be more than a squad option in big moments.
