VeryDarkMan Blasts Presidency Over AI Audio Allegation and Insecurity Response
Social media critic and influencer VeryDarkMan has reacted strongly to the controversy surrounding an alleged AI-generated audio clip linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while also criticizing the Federal Government’s handling of recent insecurity incidents in the country.
The controversy follows claims that the Presidency may prosecute the activist over a viral audio said to mimic the President’s voice, in which the speaker allegedly referenced insecurity and voting patterns from the 2023 general election.
An X user had earlier suggested that the audio was AI-generated and possibly included in one of VeryDarkMan’s online videos, sparking wider debate across social media.
Reacting in a video shared on his page, VeryDarkMan dismissed the Presidency’s focus on the audio controversy and directed harsh criticism at presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.
He also shifted attention to recent insecurity concerns, referencing the reported abduction of teachers and students in Oyo State and claiming that victims were still missing despite public holidays and ongoing national discussions.
VeryDarkMan argued that the government was prioritizing his content while failing to adequately address pressing security challenges affecting citizens.
As of the time of reporting, the Presidency has not issued a detailed response to the latest comments.
Opinion: A Clash Between Digital Accountability and Real-World Crisis
The latest exchange involving VeryDarkMan highlights a growing tension in Nigeria’s public space — where online expression, political communication, and national security concerns are increasingly colliding.
On one hand, governments are becoming more sensitive to misinformation, especially with the rise of AI-generated content that can realistically mimic public figures. From that perspective, concerns about fake audio or manipulated media are understandable.
On the other hand, critics argue that issues like kidnapping, insecurity, and school attacks remain urgent realities that demand immediate attention and transparent communication.
VeryDarkMan’s reaction reflects a broader frustration among sections of the public who feel that digital controversies sometimes receive faster official attention than physical security crises.
However, the tone of public discourse also matters. When discussions shift into personal insults and emotional outbursts, it becomes harder to maintain constructive dialogue between citizens and institutions.
Ultimately, the situation underscores a deeper challenge: how governments balance regulation of digital misinformation with the responsibility of addressing real-world insecurity — without allowing either issue to overshadow the other.
