YCee Reveals Why He Took Music Break, Says He Returned After Journey of Self-Discovery
Nigerian singer YCee has opened up about his absence from the music industry, revealing that he stepped away from the spotlight to focus on personal growth and self-discovery.
The “Juice” hitmaker, whose real name is Oludemilade Martin Alejo, made the revelation during a recent livestream with streamer Carter Efe.
According to YCee, his time away from music was intentional as he worked on understanding himself better before returning to continue his career.
“I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self-discovery. But I am back,” he said.
The singer also spoke about the meaning behind his popular nickname “Omo Alhaji,” explaining that it was connected to his family background, as his father is Muslim, although he does not personally practise the religion.
YCee described his own spiritual outlook as being built around a simple principle: love.
The rapper enjoyed a strong run in the Nigerian music scene before his break, becoming one of the industry’s notable young stars with successful songs such as “Jagaban,” “Juice,” and “Omo Alhaji.”
His return has generated excitement among fans who remember his influence during the rise of Nigeria’s new-school music movement. Many will now be watching to see how the singer’s personal experiences and growth reflect in his new sound and future projects.
