Officer Woos Denies Broda Shaggy Death Rumour, Threatens Legal Action Over Viral Claim
Nigerian content creator Officer Woos has dismissed reports claiming that he announced the death of his colleague and close associate, Broda Shaggy.
The rumour surfaced after an X blogger, @Ghost91on, claimed that Officer Woos had shared a post announcing Broda Shaggy’s death on Instagram.
Sharing Broda Shaggy’s picture, the blogger wrote: “Officer woos just announced the passed away of his brother broda shaggi vis his ig page. May his soul rest in perfect peace.”
However, Officer Woos reacted to the viral claim by sharing a screenshot of the post on his Instagram story with a simple response: “false.”
His legal representatives, Versed Attorneys, also released a statement denying the reports, describing the publication as false and misleading.
“We act as Solicitors to Mr. Jubril Bril Oladapo Gbadamosi alias ‘Officer Woos’ and write this statement in response to false and malicious publications currently circulating on social media.
“Our client has never announced the death of any colleague, friend, or associate on any of his platforms. These publications are entirely manufactured and constitute a deliberate attempt to misinform the public,” the statement read.
The content creator has also threatened legal action against individuals responsible for spreading the claim.
The speculation surrounding Broda Shaggy’s wellbeing comes months after reports that he was shot while filming at the Sango Ota Bridge in Ogun State in March 2026. Since the incident, the comedian has remained away from public commentary about the matter.
Opinion: The incident highlights how quickly unverified information can spread in the social media era. False reports about public figures can create unnecessary panic for families, friends, and fans, especially when they involve sensitive issues like health or death.
While social media has become a powerful platform for updates, this situation is another reminder that users should verify information from credible sources before sharing claims that could cause harm. Responsible reporting remains important, even in the race to break news first.
