Uche Elendu Questions Society’s Definition of Success: “Is Money Really the Measure?”

Uche Elendu Questions Society’s Definition of Success: “Is Money Really the Measure?”

Nollywood actress Uche Elendu has sparked an interesting conversation about the true meaning of success, questioning whether wealth has become the main standard by which people judge achievement.

The actress, through her Instagram page, asked her followers if money alone should determine whether someone is successful, while also questioning whether every wealthy person is truly successful and whether every successful person must be rich.

She wrote: “Has money become the measure of success? Is money really the measure of success? Is every successful person rich? And is every rich person successful?”

Responding to a follower in her comment section, Elendu explained that although wealth can be associated with success, she believes true success goes beyond financial achievements.

According to her, a person must experience fulfilment and satisfaction in different areas of life before they can be considered completely successful.

Opinion:
Uche Elendu’s question touches on a reality many people quietly debate — the difference between looking successful and actually living a successful life. In today’s society, money, luxury, and public recognition are often used as quick measurements of achievement, but success can also involve peace of mind, meaningful relationships, good health, purpose, and personal fulfilment.

While financial stability remains important, having money does not automatically guarantee happiness or fulfilment. Perhaps the bigger question is not just “How much do you have?” but “How satisfied are you with what you have built?”
