The Yoruba Nollywood industry has suffered another painful loss following the death of veteran actor and pastor Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado.
Reports indicate that the respected actor passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026, after a brief illness.
Colleague Kunle Afod announced the sad news on Instagram, describing Elegbeje Ado as one of the legends who contributed greatly to the growth of Yoruba cinema.
Afod praised the late actor’s talent, dedication, and the happiness he brought to audiences throughout his career, while sending condolences to his family, colleagues, and fans.
“Your immense contribution to the growth of Yoruba cinema, your talent, and the joy you brought to countless lives will never be forgotten,” he wrote.
Other actors, including Funke Etti, Mustapha Sholagbade, and Toyin Adewale, also expressed shock and sadness over the passing of the veteran.
