Victor Osimhen Returns to Galatasaray Pre-Season as Champions Step Up New Campaign Preparations
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned to Galatasaray's pre-season camp after being granted special leave by the Turkish Super Lig champions.
The Nigerian international linked up with his teammates at the club's Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities, where preparations for the new season are being overseen by head coach Okan Buruk.
Osimhen had been allowed to report a few days later than the rest of the squad before resuming full training ahead of the club's pre-season schedule.
As part of their preparations, Galatasaray will travel to Austria on Thursday, July 23, for a training camp that includes two friendly matches. The Turkish champions will first take on Italian side Monza before concluding the tour with another fixture against Venezia on Monday, July 27.
The 26-year-old forward is expected to play a central role once again after enjoying an outstanding campaign last season. Osimhen helped Galatasaray retain the Turkish Super Lig title by scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in just 22 league appearances, underlining his importance to Buruk's squad.
With pre-season now underway, the striker will be aiming to regain peak fitness and carry his impressive form into another title challenge and the club's European campaign.
Opinion:
Osimhen's return is a significant boost for Galatasaray as they begin preparations for another demanding season. His goals, leadership and work rate were instrumental in last season's success, and an uninterrupted pre-season could make him even more influential. If he maintains his scoring form and stays fit, Galatasaray will once again have one of the most dangerous forwards in European football leading their attack.
