Plateau United Strengthen Midfield with Veteran Dayo Ojo Signing
Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Plateau United have bolstered their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season with the signing of experienced midfielder Dayo Ojo.
Ojo joins the Peace Boys as a free agent after ending his spell with Beninese club ASVO FC, signing a one-year contract as Plateau United continue preparations for the new campaign.
The move reunites the midfielder with head coach Gbenga Ogunbote, who had previously attempted to bring him to Shooting Stars during his time in Ibadan in 2025. This time, Ogunbote has successfully secured the services of one of the NPFL's most seasoned midfielders.
With more than 200 appearances in the Nigerian top flight, Ojo brings a wealth of experience to Plateau United. Throughout his career, he has represented notable clubs including Remo Stars, Sunshine Stars, and Enyimba, earning a reputation for his composure, passing ability, and leadership in midfield.
The veteran is expected to play a key role as Plateau United aim to challenge strongly in the upcoming NPFL season.
Opinion
Signing Dayo Ojo may not be the most eye-catching transfer of the window, but it could prove to be one of the smartest. In a league where experience often makes the difference, Ojo offers leadership, tactical discipline, and invaluable top-flight know-how. If he stays fit, Plateau United will have added a calming presence capable of guiding younger teammates while providing the consistency needed for a competitive league campaign.
