Plateau United Coach Oluwasola Adegun Confident of Turnaround Despite Slow Start to NPFL Season
Plateau United’s technical adviser, Oluwasola Adegun, has expressed firm belief in his team’s ability to recover from their shaky start to the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Peace Boys have endured a rough campaign so far, winning just two of their seven matches and suffering five defeats, including a recent 1–0 loss to Shooting Stars in Ibadan.
Despite the setback, Adegun remains optimistic, insisting that his side is showing signs of improvement and only needs to fine-tune a few details to start getting consistent results.
“In our previous game against Kwara United we had a good performance, likewise against Shooting Stars too despite the defeat,” Adegun said.
“We will build on the positives from the game and avoid those mistakes that allowed us to concede at the end. We are improving consistently — very soon we will be at that place where we will be getting results away from home.”
Plateau United will next face Barau FC at home in Jos on Sunday, a match many fans believe could be a turning point in their campaign.
⚽ Opinion: Patience and Precision — What Plateau United Need Now
Adegun’s confidence is refreshing in a league where pressure mounts quickly after a few poor results. And truth be told, he isn’t wrong — Plateau United’s recent performances have shown flashes of quality, even if the scorelines haven’t been kind.
Their loss to Shooting Stars wasn’t for lack of effort; it was about fine margins — a missed chance here, a defensive lapse there. These are the kinds of moments that decide football games, and once corrected, they can transform a struggling team into a formidable one.
What Adegun seems to understand — and what fans must remember — is that rebuilding a winning rhythm takes time. The NPFL is a marathon, not a sprint. Teams like Rangers and Enyimba have shown that patience and consistency in belief often yield results as the season progresses.
With home advantage in Jos and a determined mindset, Plateau United have a golden chance to reignite their campaign against Barau FC. A win won’t just bring three points — it could restore confidence and unity in a team that clearly has potential waiting to click.
In football, sometimes optimism isn’t naïve — it’s necessary.
