Man United Confirm Andre Onana’s Loan Return to Trabzonspor

Man United Confirm Andre Onana’s Loan Return to Trabzonspor

Manchester United have confirmed that goalkeeper Andre Onana has rejoined Turkish side Trabzonspor on a season-long loan for the 2026/27 campaign.

The move sees the Cameroon international return to Papara Park, where he enjoyed a successful spell last season.

Onana made 40 appearances during his previous loan stint, playing a key role as Trabzonspor secured a third-place finish in the Turkish Super Lig and lifted the Turkish Cup.

The 30-year-old initially joined Manchester United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 and has gone on to make 102 appearances for the Premier League giants.

Confirming the temporary transfer, the Red Devils wished the goalkeeper well for the new season.

“Everyone at United wishes Andre the best of luck for the campaign ahead,” the club said in an official statement.

The loan move offers Onana another opportunity to enjoy regular first-team football after a productive campaign in Turkey, while Manchester United continue reshaping their squad ahead of the new season.

Trabzonspor will hope the experienced shot-stopper can replicate the impressive form that helped the club secure domestic silverware and European qualification last term.

Opinion

This move appears to benefit all parties. Onana returns to a club where he is valued and guaranteed regular playing time, while Manchester United can continue evaluating their long-term goalkeeping options without permanently parting ways with the Cameroon international. If he delivers another strong campaign in Turkey, Onana could either return to Old Trafford with renewed confidence or attract significant interest in the transfer market next summer.
