Asisat Oshoala Named Saudi Women’s Premier League Player of the Month
Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has been crowned the Saudi Women’s Premier League Player of the Month for September, capping off a brilliant start to life at Al-Hilal.
The Nigerian forward hit the ground running, scoring three goals and providing two assists in just three matches during the month under review.
Oshoala marked her debut with a composed penalty against Al Qadsiah, before following it up with a goal and an assist in back-to-back games against Al Ahli and Neom SC.
Since joining Al-Hilal in August from National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) outfit Bay FC, the 30-year-old has quickly established herself as the face of the club’s attack.
It was a clean sweep for Al-Hilal, with Layla Ali winning Goalkeeper of the Month and Jose Herrera picking up Coach of the Month, a testament to the team’s dominance in the early stages of the season.
Opinion:
Oshoala’s instant impact in Saudi Arabia is no surprise — she has made a career of settling in quickly and delivering when it matters most. From her days at Arsenal and Barcelona to her stint in the U.S., the Nigerian striker has consistently shown that class travels across borders.
What stands out most is her adaptability. Many expected it would take time for her to adjust to a new league, but she’s already showing why she’s regarded as one of Africa’s greatest exports in women’s football. Her performances are not just goals and assists; they are statements of intent, raising the profile of the Saudi Women’s Premier League and inspiring young players who look up to her.
For Al-Hilal, having Oshoala firing this early is a dream. If she maintains this form, they won’t just be contenders — they’ll be favorites. And for Nigeria, every sharp display from their talisman abroad is good news ahead of international duties.
In many ways, this award is not just recognition of Oshoala’s brilliance — it’s a reminder that wherever she goes, she turns potential into history.
