Mikel Obi Backs Arsenal for Champions League Glory — Are the Gunners Finally Ready to Conquer Europe?

Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has tipped Arsenal to win the UEFA Champions League this season, boldly declaring that the Gunners now have the belief and quality to go all the way.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder, who knows what it takes to conquer Europe after lifting the Champions League with the Blues in 2012, spoke highly of Arsenal’s squad and mentality on his podcast.

“We’re talking about the Premier League, I think they can go on to win the Champions League, this is how good Arsenal are,” Mikel said.

“It’s scary, I’m telling you, the squad they have, the players they have, the way they are playing, and I can see a little bit of a mental shift.

“I think right now they believe, there’s something there, I can feel it now, finally Arsenal are ready.”

Arsenal, led by Mikel Arteta, have been one of Europe’s most exciting teams in recent seasons. Their blend of youthful energy, tactical discipline, and attacking flair has earned them praise from both fans and rivals alike.

They are among six English teams competing in Europe’s elite competition this season, alongside Manchester City, Liverpool, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea.

💭 Opinion: Belief, Balance, and a Bit of Maturity — Arsenal’s Time Might Finally Be Here

For years, Arsenal fans have dreamed of hearing that final whistle on a Champions League night with the trophy in their captain’s hands. And while they’ve come close to greatness, it always seemed just out of reach — until now.

What makes Mikel Obi’s comment interesting is that it’s coming from someone who’s been there. He understands what a winning squad looks like — the chemistry, the hunger, the fearlessness. And right now, Arsenal seem to be ticking those boxes.

There’s something different about this Arsenal team — a quiet confidence, a sense of unfinished business. Arteta has built not just a talented side, but a mentally resilient one.

Of course, the Champions League demands more than good form — it requires nerve, experience, and luck. But if there’s ever been a time for Arsenal to dream again, it’s now.

And maybe, just maybe, this is the season the Gunners finally fire their last shot — straight into European history. 🏆🔴⚪
